LOS ANGELES, March 31, 2017 - LA 2024, the non-profitorganization bidding to bring the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to LosAngeles, today announces its current and nominated Board of Directors. Thediverse group of 117 leaders and innovators are drawn from the sports,entertainment, media, technology, higher education, business, philanthropic andpublic sectors in California and around the world, helping LA 2024 develop aGames Plan that will serve the Olympic Movement in 2024 and beyond.
LA 2024's Board is led by Chairman Casey Wasserman, CEO GeneSykes and five Vice Chairs: four-time Olympic champion and Director of AthleteRelations Janet Evans, eight-time Paralympic champion Candace Cable, OlympicChampion and leading sports entrepreneur Earvin “Magic” Johnson, The Walt DisneyCompany Chairman and CEO Bob Iger and UNITE HERE (National Hospitality WorkersUnion) Vice President Maria Elena Durazo.
Representing the very best of California’s businessexpertise, creativity and imagination, the Board has contributed invaluable insightto LA 2024's low-risk, high-tech and sustainable proposal to the InternationalOlympic Committee. In addition to lending their talent and expertise to thebid, Board members have donated more than $50 million to finance LA 2024'soperations to bring the Games back to Los Angeles. Unlike many Olympic bids, LA2024 is entirely privately funded and run, without any government funding.

That means that instead of focusing on complex and costlyconstruction projects, we can dedicate this group’s incredible energy andcreativity to connecting the Games to the future."
