LAUSANNE, June 21, 2018 - Cristiano Ronaldo currently leads the race for the Golden Boot at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia with four goals in two matches. He scored his first ever World Cup hat-trick in Portugal’s intriguing 3-3 draw against Spain and became Europe's all-time leading international scorer - with 85 goals - when he headed in his side’s lone goal in their victory over Morocco on Wednesday.
The Ballon d'Or holder has so far been grabbing the headlines and his fans all over the world could not be any happier.
Angela Akua Asante is one of those, and with the victory over Morocco on June 20, she celebrated her 14th year anniversary of being a Ronaldo fan. It is a day she remembers so well because it led her into becoming a sports journalist instead of a banker or a financial analyst. According to her, “football wouldn't make sense without the existence of CR7.”
To this end, Asante created a C. Ronaldo Daily fansite, www.cronaldodaily.com, less than two years ago and she is currently at her first ever FIFA World Cup in Russia to keenly follow Ronaldo’s fourth World Cup journey.
Asante’s first ever World Cup experience came in 2012 as an AIPS Young Reporter at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. She describes it as an “unforgettable experience”.
Everything about Ronaldo, from his family to his football; from his national team to his club side, can be found on the C. Ronaldo Daily fansite which is gradually building a community of CR7 faithful, and Angela’s ‘CR7 World Cup travel series’ are worth keeping tabs on.
