ACCRA, September 11, 2019 - The winner of the 2019 GNPC Ghana Fastest Human, Benjamin Kwaku Azamati was taken through a procession on the principal streets of Kumasi, Accra and the University of Ghana, Legon leading to the Vice Chancellor’s Office to show him his award.
Benjamin Kwaku Azamati who was a member of Ghana’s 4x100m relay gold medalists at the 2019 African Games in Morocco clocked 10.02secs to win the 2019 Ghana’s Fastest Human 100m held in Kumasi over the weekend.
He beat tough contenders Kumasi based Edwin Gadayi and Desmond Aryee of Accra.
Rek Brobbey, initiator of the Ghana Fastest Human said he was impressed with the competition which was held in showers of rains as the performances were of quality and the fans showed up to support the athletes.
He noted that the objective of unearthing and grooming sprinters to run for Ghana at the Olympic Games has been met as Ghana won the 4x100m at the African Games and also produced finalists in the 100m dash race.
