LIMA, December 28, 2019 - Five months have passed since the start of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, and less than a day ago, the Panam Sports Executive Committee formalized the Official Medal Table, before approving decisions and disqualifications after thorough reviews of doping cases by the Disciplinary Commission.
In total, 1905 samples were taken; 1652 of urine and 253 of blood, of which 15 had a positive result.
Among the most important changes are the rise of Argentina from sixth to fifth place, the two bronze medals that Peru added, which means a total of 41 and the new ninth place of Dominican Republic.
“We have been very careful with the issue of doping at the Pan American Games of Lima 2019, respecting all the corresponding protocols and processes. After our Executive Committee meeting, we have officially approved the decisions of the Disciplinary Commission and the respective disqualifications of the athletes involved, and this has generated the changes we are reporting today. With this, we close the medal table of our Games,” said Panam Sports Secretary General, Ivar Sisniega.
