Egyptian Olympic Committee president says no intention to stop sports activities in Egypt

CAIRO, March 12, 2020 - Engineer Hisham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee has stressed that there is no decision to stop sports activities in Egypt, and there is no thinking about this matter currently. According to him, the Egyptian Olympic Committee is committed to the decision of the Council of Ministers and the decision of the Minister of Youth and Sports regarding the precautionary measures that are being taken during the current period of coronavirus, hence there is no need to stop sports activities.
Hatab said: “we appreciate very well the importance of sports, preserving our players and their preparations and preserving them from all dangers, and we appreciate the responsibility placed upon us well, but we did not stop the sports activity and we did not study that completely.”
He further noted that there was communication with Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports and all concerned parties, because the Olympic Committee is keen on the public interest of Egyptian sport.
Hatab explained, “We follow all sporting activities in all sports federations and communicate with all officials for the necessary measures that maintain the continuation of the Egyptian sports and also protect players, coaches and all elements of sport.”
