ZAGREB, October 26, 2020 - Nikolina Brnjac, the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, has tested positive for coronavirus, a government spokesman, Marko Milić, said on Sunday. The minister had noticed the symptoms of the disease on the same day and decided to get tested.
Due to her participation in a meeting in the Government on Saturday, a measure of self-isolation lasting 14 days has been imposed on two other ministers who were sitting next to Brnjac - Minister of Labor, Pensions, Family and Social Policy Josip Aladrovic and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tomislav Coric. Other attendees will undergo passive control measures, according to Milić.
"Minister Brnjac will continue to perform her duties in isolation, adhering to all measures of epidemiologists. Self-isolation was also imposed on her family members, and epidemiologists were given information about the minister's close contacts in the last 48 hours," Milić said.
The meeting which Minister Brnjac took part in on Saturday was focused on the preparation of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia until 2030, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the fight against COVID-19. Milić explained that all participants wore protective masks throughout the meeting.
"According to the decision of the epidemiologists, other participants in the meeting and members of the Government who were at a distance of more than two meters from Minister Brnjac will be subject to the rules of passive surveillance and recommendations on enhanced health monitoring, with mandatory coronavirus testing," said Milić.
