LAUSANNE, November 18, 2020 - Kazakhstan may not have succeeded in their quest for a much-needed comeback against Albania in one of the UEFA Nations League matches decided on Sunday (November 15), but Aybol Abiken’s consolation goal definitely stole the show, and could also be a goal of the year contender.
It was a stunning quick response to Albania's second goal which was scored by Ardian Ismajli in the 23rd minute. As soon as the referee blew the whistle to restart the game, Abiken received a short pass from his teammate who took the kick-off before delivering an audacious shot that flew beyond the Albanian goalkeeper Etrit Berisha and bounced into the net. Berisha, who was obviously caught off guard, scrambled back to his post but to no avail.

Albania still went on to win the game 3-1 with goals from Sokol Cikalleshi, Ismajli and Ray Manaj.
Albania have a chance to claim top spot in group C4 with a win against Belarus, who currently occupy that position, on Wednesday. While bottom-placed Kazakhstan would have to beat Lithuania on the same night to avoid relegation play-offs.
