Lebanese Sports Media Association launches COVID-19 vaccination campaign


BEIRUT, April 12, 2021 - The Lebanese Sports Media Association (LSMA) launched a vaccination campaign for sports journalists against Covid-19, on Monday afternoon April 12, 2021, at Mount Lebanon Hospital.
The first batch of journalists received their first dose of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine among a total of 200 journalists from affiliated association members and others who had registered, after securing vaccines through Pharmatrade to be become at the forefront of institutions and associations that provide the vaccine through the private sector to its members and workers in the Media field.
Later this month, the second batch of applicants will receive their first dose of the vaccine, provided that the second dose will be during the approved period.
Those who received the vaccine received a vaccination card from the hospital approved by the Ministry of Health stating that the holder was vaccinated on certain dates, serving as a health reference.
Colleagues who received the vaccine first dose praised the tremendous step taken by the association, and saw quality work that made the association a pioneer between professional gatherings and organizations by securing the vaccine for its members and workers in the field of sports media, which is not an easy matter, thus confirming the seriousness and commitment of those who are determined in stepping in to achieve the goals of the association By promoting the reality of the Lebanese sports media.
Association member Mrs. Wafa Hammoud Awada said: “After the tragedy that befell us with the loss of my husband the late Dr. Muhammad Awada due to his infection with Coronavirus at the beginning of this year, and the death of other sports journalists, we sought to secure the vaccine to enhance the health status of sports journalists, and to banish the specter of this deadly disease from them.”
Hammoud added, "Enhancing the status of the Lebanese sports journalists was one of the priorities of the late Dr. Awada, and we will continue to follow in his footsteps and realize his dream and aspirations."
In turn, the Secretary General of the Association Antoine Najm revealed that journalists who received the first dose of the Russian vaccine belong to the older group or from those who have special conditions, provided that the rest of the registered colleagues will receive the vaccine in two subsequent batches during the current month, according to their age.
He called on those who have not yet applied for registration to review the secretariat to include them in the second phase.
