LAUSANNE, April 22, 2021 - The announcement of the Super League rocked the football world. The spectacular and unprecedented battlefield between 12 of the most powerful clubs and UEFA, forced everyone, from club owners to fans, managers and players, to court judges, presidents and prime ministers, to take a position.
Even FIFA president Gianni Infantino had to intervene, given the risk of a schism that would fracture football as we know it.
From the events of Sunday night, in which the league was announced, to the protests, threats and successive drop outs of the clubs involved, starting with the 6 from England, what really happened this week and, especially, what does it mean for the future? Can this happen again? Will it?
While several stakeholders now express the need for a reform, AIPS will discuss the failed move from all possible angles on a special seminar, on Friday, 2 pm CET. Super League: Was it meant to rescue or to destroy football?
The seminar will have simultaneous translation in 4 languages (English, Spanish, French, Arabic).
