DAKAR, August 17, 2021 - Abdoualye Thiam was re-elected president of the Senegalese National Sport Press Association (ANPS) during the general assembly held on Saturday 14 August in Dakar. As the only candidate for the ANPS presidency, Thiam was appointed by acclamation for a new four-year term.
The Chief editor of the newspaper Sud Quotidien, who first became the head of the governing body of the Senegalese sports press in 2017, has marked his mandate by strong actions appreciated by all members. And he intends to continue with this dynamic.
Indeed, Abdoulaye Thiam reaffirmed his willingness to introduce other innovations to the sports association he leads, all on the basis of transparency in the management. "This mandate will allow us, if God willing, to give a new dimension to the association, with a great focus on social," he said.
For the next four years, he also announced management reforms. "In addition to setting up solidarity and social security mechanisms, we will, during this new mandate, modernize our governance with the adoption of a manual of procedure," he said just after his election.
To accompany him in this work of making Senegalese sports press stronger, the new president has appointed 27 people to join the executive committee.
Abdoualye Thiam was installed in his position by former ANPS president Mamadou Koumé.
The election of the ANPS president was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Sports, the Senegalese Football Federation and the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSS).
