

FREETOWN, August 19, 2021 - Team Manager of Sierra Leone national team, Babadi Kamara believes his Leone Stars squad will give Africa and the World a bring surprise come January 2022 at the rescheduled African Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Following Tuesday's draw, the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone are in Group E and will have to face holders Algeria, who won the last edition of the tournament in Egypt in 2019, Equatorial Guinea as well as Ivory Coast.
Despite the big names in the group, the Team Manager believes in January 2022 his squad we will shock Africa and the world will hear the Sierra Leone story.
“Sierra Leone is a country of resilience and under the leadership of Thomas Daddy as President of the Sierra Leone Football Association and the backing of the government of President Julius Bio and the people of Sierra Leone, come January 2022 we will shock Africa and the world will hear our story,” Kamara said.
“The game is not against names, we will be playing football for ninety minutes. We will conquer beyond the expectations of our doubters. War is never won by the mighty and best army, it is won by the strategic and enduring force.”
The highly optimistic Team Manager believes Sierra Leone will match to Douala without fear and complexity, and will be superior to any team they play and will triumph against their opponents.
Sierra Leone who secured a spot in next year's showpiece after ending their 25 years wait for a place in the continent's biggest football tournament will be looking to make progress and move beyond Group E for the first time in their Nations Cup history.
Leone Stars have failed to make progress from the group stage in both 1994 and 1996 African Cup of Nations appearance in Tunisia and South Africa respectively.
