COPENHAGEN, September 22, 2021 - Jyllands-Posten sports editor Thomas Møller Kristensen was on September 10 named the Sports Journalist of the Year 2020 by the Danish Sports Journalists (Danske Sportsjournalister) during the association’s annual gala and general meeting.
Kristensen won the prestigious accolade ahead of Morten Glinvad and Politiken’s duo of Jeppe Laursen Brock and Christian Heide Jørgensen, for his revelation of a dissatisfaction case in the Danish Orienteering Federation. By virtue of his series of articles on the case, the accused - the fired sports director of the federation - was cleared and the accusers - the orienteering federation and Team Denmark - received fierce criticism.
Having received the Sports Journalist of the Year title for the first time in 2010, Kristensen is now one of just three journalists who have won the award twice. The prize was first awarded back in 1962.
Here are the winners of the other special prizes for 2020
Digital Hit of the Year: #herermitstadion by Morten Bruun
Sportsbook of the Year: Fodbolddrømmer (Football Dreams) by Morten Glinvad
Ankerdal of the Year (young sports journalist under 30 years of age): Anders Dehn (Tipsbladet)
Narrator of the Year: Thomas Lund Hansen (Jyllands-Posten)
The Sports Photo of the Year will be awarded at a later occasion as all nominees were unable to attend the gala on September 10. The nominees are:
Lars Rønbøg
Jens Dresling
Anders Kjærbye
