From 1921 to 2021, the Best Polish Journalists chosen in the years by the Polish Sports Writers Association

Bohdan Tomaszewski selected as the Best Radio Journalist from 1921 to 2021 by KDS

WARSAW, January 6, 2022 - On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the continuous publication of the largest Polish daily “Przeglad Sportowy”; the Polish Sports Writers Association (KDS) organized a plebiscite for the best journalists in the years 1921-2021.
The originator of the plebiscite was a member of our club Wladyslaw Minkiewicz, author of the book “Olimpijska gorączka”.
The jury of the plebiscite composed of:
Honorary member of Zygmunt Gluszek - the oldest sports journalist, born 1928 and decorated with the Cross of Valor at the age of 16 during Warsaw Upraising 1944;
1. Wojciech Fortuna - Olympic and world gold medalist 1972 in Sapporo in ski jumping;
2. Daniel Grinberg - professor of history, an expert in sports and sports statistics;
3. Kajetan Hadzelek - researcher at the Josef Pilsudski Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw, president of the Foundation of the Pierre de Coubertin Committee in Poland;
4. Michal Kleiber - professor, chairman of the Polish Committee for UNESCO;
5. Robert Korzeniowski- four-time Olympic gold medalist in sports walking;
6. Jòzef Lipiec - professor at the Jagiellonian University, president of Poland's Olympic Academy;
7. Adam Małysz- four-time Olympic medalist in ski jumping;
8. Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekieli - five-time olympic medalist in cross-country skiing;
9. Zbigniew Porada - retired professor of the Cracow University of Technology, statistician, sports historian;
10. Janusz Gerard Pyciak - Olympic champion from Montreal 1976, multiple medalist of the World and European Championships in modern pentathlon;
11. Barbara Slizowska-Konopka – team bronze medalist in sports gymnastics from Melbourne, 1956;
12. Ryszard Wryk - historian, publisher, and associate of Polish Biographical Dictionary;
13. Krzysztof Zuchora - researcher at the Josef Pilsudski Academy of Physical Education, in Warsaw, and poet.
Chapter of the Sports Journalists Club Plebiscite decided to award the title:
- The best press journalist (1921-2021) to Tadeusz Olszanski;
- The best radio journalist (1921-2021) to Bohdan Tomaszewski (1921-2015);
- The best TV journalist (1921-2021) to Wlodzimierz Szaranowicz;
- The best photographer (1921-2021) to Leszek Fidusiewicz;
Chapter of the Sports Journalists Club Plebiscite decided to give a Special Mention to Doctor Bogdan Tuszynski (1932-2017).
A long-time sports reporter for Polish Radio, a precursor of combining a living word and an innovative way of conveying reports from sports events on the Polish Radio.
Outstanding press expert and historian of polish sport. He based his studies on enormous material fractographic and sources, showing the history of the polish sports press from the moment of its birth, what did place in 1881.
He has won the "Golden Pen" of KDS four times. Twice awarded with the Golden Laurel of the Polish Olympic Committee.
Bogdan Tuszynski, the author of 42 books, is probably the only one in the history of world sports journalism, who put so much merit in describing the most important sports events by documenting including the role of Polish journalists and sports journalists.
