KAMPALA, April 24, 2022 - Phillip Wokorach showed incomparable sportsmanship as Uganda beat Zambia on day one of the Rugby Africa Men's Sevens held at Kyadondo Ground in Kampala.

The selfless Wokorach let debutant Karim Arinaitwe register his first try.
Wokorach, who reached the scoring zone quickest, waited for the youngstar to reach the zone and he duly passed to him; Arinaitwe made no mistake.
Uganda held onto a strong second half showing to win their last game of the day 40-07 against Zambia.
Wokorach was generally a handful and the Southern Africans. His pace and physicality were a thorn in the flesh of the Zambians, who had no answers for his skill set.

Wokorach scored the opening try and shortly after Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Isaac Massangazira and Micheal Wokorach joined the party.
In the opening game of the day, Uganda walloped Burundi 71-00. Again, the fly half was the outstanding rugby player on show as he crossed the line 4 times and made 8 conversions.
Ofoyrwoth crossed the line twice with Timothy Kisiga, (Micheal) Wokorach, Adrian Kasito, Nobert Okeny and Claude Otema also adding their names on the score sheet.
In the second game of day, (Phillip) Wokorach was superb too as he inspired Uganda to a 29-0 triumph over Tunisia.
In the other games played, Kenya humiliated Senegal 19-0, Burkina Faso beat Zimbabwe 14-12 while Madagascar eased passed Botswana 52-00.
Namibia overcame Ghana 17-10, Cameroon humbled Zambia 33-07 while Tunisia prevailed over Mauritius 14-00 in round one of the Africa men's Seven’s.
In round two, Mauritius beat Botswana, Ghana crushed Burundi, Madagascar made light work of Namibia while Kenya were made to work for their win over Zimbabwe.
In the third round of day one, Kenya defeated Namibia, Madagascar were whipped by Zimbabwe, Cameroon went down to Botswana while Burkina Faso lost to Tunisia narrowly. Senegal meanwhile whitewashed Burundi.
Kenya are the defending champions having defeated Uganda in the final of 2019 edition in South Africa. The 2020 and 2021 editions didn’t take place due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Fourteen teams will compete for continental glory with the top two teams set to join hoping Kenya at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
