Afghanistan’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in Australia ends with captain of the team stepping down

Mohammad Nabi Isa Khel announced his resignation as captain of the Afghan T20 team

KABUL, November 8, 2022 - Afghanistan tour of the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia has come to an end and the Afghan team is returning empty-handed from this competition.
Mohammad Nabi Isa Khel the captain of the Afghan T20 team announced his resignation as skipper after the last match against Australia in the T20 World Cup and revealed some secrets.
Nabi wrote on his Twitter that, as he predicted, the Afghan team did not perform as well in the World Cup, which was due to the lack of preparation of the team and according to him, in the last few trips, the difference in opinion between the management of the cricket board and the selection committee. He adds that he will continue to play cricket as an ordinary player in the national team.
A few days before the 2021 T20 World Cup, Mohammad Nabi Isa Khel was appointed as the captain of the Afghan team for the T20 after Rashid Khan resigned from this position.
After Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi resigned from the captaincy, both of them criticized the management and selection committee of the cricket board, saying that they have failed to provide the team with games and select the appropriate team for tournaments.
Following the resignation of the two famous players, it seems that the Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) is really stuck and does not have a good management.
The Afghan team lost three out of five matches in their group at the T20 World Cup 2022, they however ranked 12th to qualify directly for the 2024 T20 World Cup to be hosted by West Indies and the USA.
