PESHAWAR, November 12, 2022 - Pakistan's senior sports journalist Amjad Aziz Malik has been re-elected as the president of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation for next term 2022-2026. Karachi-based sports journalist Muhammad Asghar Azeem will be the secretary general of the National Sports Media Association. The election was held in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The three-member election committee was headed by Nadir Khawaja and other members of the committee included Ijaz Rashid and Nasr Iqbal. AIPS Asia Treasurer Niranjan Rajbanshi of Nepal participated as an observer. All office bearers were elected unopposed. Amjad Aziz Malik is ranked amongst leading journalists of Pakistan. He bears in his credit marvelous services which he has been rendering towards promotion of journalism in the country; the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular besides making valuable contribution for projection and encouragement of new talents in the field of journalism. Amjad Aziz Malik started his journalism career in 1982.He contributed for Daily Imroz, Daily Hurriat and Monthly Akhbar e Watan.
Amjad Aziz Malik joined Daily Jiddat in 1985 and then joined Daily Jang in 1986 and served 16 years .In 2002 he joined first news channel of Pakistan Geo News and worked till 2014.He covered news regarding every walk of life especially during terrorism period without caring his life and presented the facts to the Nation. He was Resident Editor of Daily Express at Peshawar from 2014 to 2017 and now a days he is Chief Editor of Daily Kasoti Peshawar,
Amjad Aziz Malik carries the unique credit amongst the journalistic community of Pakistan for having covered the Olympics Games, Common Wealth Games, SAF Games, Islamic Games, Indoor Asian Games, Special Olympics Games and Paralympics Games. He is Secretary General of Asian Sports Journalists Federation (AIPS ASIA) and elected executive committee member of Asian Sports Journalists Federation (AIPS) since 2012.
Amongst commentators, he also enjoys special status as well for having done commentary of 268 international hockey matches besides being judged best commentator of Radio Pakistan for two consecutive years – 1999 and 2000. During his 40 years journalistic career, Mr. Malik has contributed more than five thousand features, articles and columns in print media. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he is the only journalist, who has written 17 books more than 5000 articles and Columns, 300 research papers; 50 brochures and magazines.
