DOHA, December 12, 2022 - After the tragic death of Grant Wahl, last Saturday, a second journalist who was accredited to the World Cup died this weekend.
Qatari photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam, 44, “passed away suddenly” on Sunday, confirmed Al-Kass TV, the media outlet where he worked for. The whole media industry is in shock and offering respects to their family and friends.
TALENTED AND CREATIVE People who knew Khalid describe him as “very friendly and talented guy” who will surely be missed. He was easy going and had a broad, characteristic smile.
Al-Misslam worked in the creative department of Al-Kass TV. The media outlet published the story remembering him with a black background.
HIGHLY ETHICAL In the past he had worked for Al-Anabi racing team and was the co-founder of Red Dot Films.“He was a highly ethical person, and an exceptional artist in his field. He has been my inspiration in sports photography since we started in this job,” his colleague Khaleel Nadoum, from Kuwait, told AIPS Media.
CONDOLENCES Circumstances around his death were not officially informed but AIPS confirmed he was not working at the time of his death and he reportedly died of a heart-attack.
“We believe in Allah's mercy and forgiveness for him, and send our deepest condolences to his family,” published The Gulf Times.
Dozens of colleagues and social media users paid a tribute on Twitter.

THIRD DEATH Three weeks ago, ITV’s Technical Director, Roger Pearce, also died here in Qatar, the network confirmed. Roger, a prominent figure in the sport media industry, was embarking on his eight World Cup before retiring.
