AIPS Europe meets UEFA Head of Media Thomas Giordano in Seoul

SEOUL, May 11, 2023 - UEFA Head of Media & PR Thomas Giordano met with AIPS Europe vice president György Szöllosi, who was accompanied by a delegation of representatives from the European associations of Belgium, Netherlands and Ireland, during the 85th AIPS Congress held in Seoul, Korea between 8-11 May 2023.
During the meeting, Mr. Szöllosi and the delegation members expressed their concern to Giordano on the current situation photographers and pitch-side journalists face during their work, being targeted by objects thrown from the terraces.
Also, the matter of the return to pre-COVID conditions in mixed zones was discussed, with Giordano noting that for all UEFA competitions, the situation has returned to normality. AIPS Europe stressed that the same pre-COVID conditions should be applied also for all competitions held by the national federations around the continent.
The meeting was a result of the initial meeting the day before, which AIPS Europe president Charles Camenzuli and György Szöllosi had with Mr. Giordano, during which he was briefed on the matters discussed. Both sides agreed to continue their communication in the coming weeks, with the purpose of strengthening the relations between the European Media and UEFA.
