

LONDON, September 24, 2023 - Following the ICF World Championships in Duisburg, Germany and London, England, some national canoe federations have obtained quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The German Canoe Federation got places for 17 sportsmen and women. The maximum for Paris will be 18; six men and women in kayak and three women and men in canoe. Other successful nations include Hungary and Spain with 15 places.
Altogether 28 nations globally have secured quotas.
The competitions in canoe slalom on the artificial course of the Olympic Games in London 2012 has been amazing. Many spectators are witnessing the fights for Olympic qualification at the 2023 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships - Lee Valley, which comes to an end on September 24.
The canoe slalom is contested by two types of boat, canoe (C) and kayak (K) and the Olympic programme consists of four classes MK1, WK1, MC1 and WC1.
At the ongoing world championships, the favourites - former world and Olympic champions - did not disappoint in all classes.
In the C1 class: Mallory Franklyn (GBR) and Benjamin Savcek (SLO),
In the K1 class: Jessica Fox (AUS) and Joseph Clarke (GBR) got the world title.
In all four competitions, France, Italy, Czech, Great Britain got a quota place.
So far in canoe sprint and in canoe slalom Europe has the most athletes ahead of America, Oceania, Asia and Africa.
Some more quotas will be allocated at continental championships to be held between now and Paris 2024.
