World Athletics Championships Budapest and Chengdu FISU WUG receive best press facilities award at AIPS Congress in Santa Susanna

SANTA SUSANNA, April 30, 2024 - At the 86th AIPS Congress in Santa Susanna, the World Athletics Championships Budapest and Chengdu FISU World University Games were presented with the AIPS Award for the Best Press Facilities of 2023.
AIPS Executive Committee member from China, Gao Chao, representing the organising committee of the Chengdu 2021 Games (staged in 2023), and Zacharias Vailakis, World Athletics Head of Media Operations, received the awards, which were presented by presented by György Szöllősi and Zsuzsa Csisztu, the president and vice president of the Hungarian Sports Press Association.

MULTI-SPORT In 2023 the AIPS Best Press Facilities Award was divided into multi-sport and single-sport events. For the multi-sport events, the AIPS poll acknowledged the brilliant media operations of the Summer World University Games held this year in Chengdu, China, the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, Germany and the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. In Chengdu and Berlin, AIPS organised two successful Young Reporters Programmes in collaboration with FISU and Special Olympics, respectively.

SINGLE SPORT Regarding the championships of individual sports, the working conditions for the press provided at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and the 2023 edition of the Wimbledon Championships were highly appreciated.
