Uganda Boxing Champions League: Debutant Nerrick shines in Season Three opener


KAMPALA, May 27, 2024 - The third season of the Uganda Boxing Champions League kicked off on the 25th May 2024 at the MTN Arena in Lugogo on Saturday, attracting significant attention. Notable attendees included Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi, Uganda Olympic Committee President Donald Rukare, Next Media Deputy CEO Joe Kigozi, and renowned musician Navio.
The event featured vibrant performances from the Nyonyi Cultural Troupe, musician Vyper Ranking, and comedians Madrat and Chiko, Maulana and Reign, and Kalela, creating a festive atmosphere.
The evening's main bout saw Broline Kimbugwe, known as ‘Stylist,’ face off against Nerrick Tumusiime, nicknamed ‘Bulabe.’ Tumusiime won with a decisive 5-0 unanimous decision.

Other matches included Bomber Mulungi Kassim’s victory over Mudenya Trevor in the 57 kg Featherweight contest and Zaharah Nandawula's triumph over Naava Gertrude in the Ladies Lightweight Elite 60 kg category. Mbazira Eliphaz defeated Kiggundu Leon in another 57 kg Featherweight match, while James Japyem won against Babiro Shafick.
Additional victories were secured by Brian Nkuruziza, Nsubuga Samuel, Kugonza Joyce, Kimera Eddy, and Ojok Alfred, highlighting the league's depth of talent.
The next round of the Uganda Boxing Champions League is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the MTN Indoor Arena.
