

KAMPALA, July 3, 3034 - The seventh Uganda Para-Badminton International Championship has begun, attracting athletes and coaches from 14 countries.
This ranking tournament, building on six successful editions, allows players to earn points to improve their global standings and qualify for major events, including the Global Tour and the Paralympics.
The tournament features players with disabilities competing in categories such as standing lower, standing upper, and wheelchair, ensuring fair competition among athletes with similar physical capabilities. Events include men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
Representatives from countries like India and Egypt are competing for top honors, highlighting the event's international appeal and competitive spirit.
The knockout format adds intensity, as each match is crucial for advancing and earning ranking points. Badrinath Badri, a coach from India, expressed his excitement: "This BWF ranking championship helps athletes qualify for higher-level competitions such as BWF Level 2 and Level 1 tournaments.
The next Level 1 tournament will be in Indonesia and Bahrain." With 45 players from India and over 150 participants in total, the championship promises intense competition and opportunities for athletes to advance their international careers, aiming for future high-level tournaments like the World Championships and Asian Games.
