Giorgio Keller new president of sportpress.ch

Giorgio Keller

LAUSANNE, November 10, 2024 - Giorgio Keller is the new president of sportpress.ch. The Ticinese by birth was elected unanimously during the ordinary delegates' meeting of sportpress.ch on November 8 at the World Archery Center in Lausanne. The 67-year-old freelance journalist thus succeeds Gerard Bucher from Vaud, who passed away suddenly in the spring.
Giorgio Keller, who ran for the Zurich section, combines several linguistic regions in one person. Keller grew up in Bellinzona, now lives in Aargau, speaks the national languages German and French, as well as English and Spanish, in addition to Italian, and has been involved in sports journalism for decades. He wrote his first sports article at the age of 14; since then, sports journalism has never left his side. Since 2019, Giorgio Keller has been a live commentator for Blue TV and previously worked as a journalist, photographer, book author and in public relations.
"I would like to thank the section delegates for their trust," Giorgio Keller was delighted with his election. "I am sure that, as a committee, we will work proactively with all sections to be able to meet future challenges." Vice President Sandro Mühlebach, who had taken over the presidency ad interim following the death of Gerard Bucher, was also pleased: "We are delighted that with Giorgio Keller, we have a personality available who has a feeling for all three language regions."
In addition to Keller as president, Patricia Loher (Eastern Switzerland/Head of Sports Awards), Vedran Galijas (Zurich/Communication/Website) and Sandro Mühlebach (Bern/Vice President) were re-elected. Alexander Schaer (Aargau/Solothurn) did not stand for re-election. The position of Chief Financial Officer could not be filled at this time. Muriel Fiechter Oberholzer (Aargau) will continue to be the association's secretary.
