KAMPALA, December 3, 2024 - Moses Alsayed Lubega has pledged to ensure that the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) remains a cornerstone for sports journalism in Uganda, fostering professionalism and excellence among its members.
Lubega made these remarks after being elected as the new USPA president during the Annual General Assembly, which also served as the Elective Assembly, held at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) headquarters on Saturday, 30 November.
“As USPA, we want to uphold brotherhood and strive to ensure that sports journalism in Uganda reaches its peak. We also aim to establish more partnerships that will elevate the association to greater heights,” Lubega stated.

Lubega of Animus Media Africa has officially returned as the President of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA). His nomination was put forward by USPA founder Fred Sekitto and seconded by Hussein Ahmed of FUFA, solidifying his leadership for another term.
UNOPPOSED The electoral process, conducted by returning officer Elijah Njawuzi, saw all four key positions filled unopposed during the Assembly.
The unopposed elections underscore the unity and mutual support within USPA, setting the stage for a cohesive and forward-looking leadership team.
Shafik Ssenoga, who served as the acting General Secretary at the end of the previous term, has officially assumed the position for the next two years. His nomination was put forward by Solomon Ssaka of Next Media and seconded by Michael Nsubuga of Vision Group. This transition solidifies his role within the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) leadership, ensuring continuity and stability in the association's operations.
UBC's Amon Ngabo has been elected as the new Treasurer of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) for the upcoming term. His nomination was made by Daniels Web Ssebakigye of FUFA Media and seconded by Peter Kanyike of Vision Group. Ngabo's election underscores confidence in his ability to manage the association's financial affairs effectively.
Francisco Bwambale, who previously served as the Assistant Treasurer, has been elected as the Organising Secretary of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) for the upcoming term. His nomination was put forward by Moses Alsayed Lubega of Animus Media Africa and seconded by Michael Nsubuga of Vision Group. Bwambale’s new role reflects his dedication and the trust placed in him to oversee the association's organizational activities.
