Georgian football player Kvaratskhelia creates an atmosphere of a real football festival

TBILISI, January 27, 2025 - Georgian national football team player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who turns 24 on February 12, has in recent years won not only the sympathy of tens of millions of people from different countries around the world, but also the love of people who are often very far from football.
And this phenomenon is explained by many factors – technical, precise, effective play, natural artistry and sincerity on the field and in life, the fact that Khvicha creates an atmosphere for tens of millions of people. This attractive player uses romantic football and this is one of the main secrets of his popularity - It's not just his brilliant playing technique and his skill, but also his romanticism, playing style, his demeanor and communication with the fans. He doesn't do it on purpose, he's like that by nature.
Khvicha’s talent was especially revealed while he played for the Italian club Napoli from July 2022 to January 2025. In mid-January 2025, Khvicha moved from Napoli to the French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the most successful club in France. Neymar (2017-2023), Messi (2021-2023) and Mbappe (2018-2024) had previously played for this French team. On January 19, it was officially announced that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has signed a contract with PSG until 2029.

The Way to Paris
Khvicha was born and grew up in Tbilisi, in a football family. His father Badri Kvaratskhelia successfully played for Georgian (1984-1997) and Azerbaijan (1997-2004) clubs. He then became a coach (2005-2018). Khvichas grandfather Mamia Kvaratskhelia was a football player as well, he played between 1940-1950 for Tsalenjikha (West Georgia) local team and as the veterans remember, Mamia was known for his amazing bicycle-kick technique.
From the age of six, Khvicha began to play in the children’s team of the Tbilisi Academy “Olympic”, then he played in the “Avaza” club Tbilisi, and since 2013 he played for five years at the Tbilisi “Dinamo ” Academy (the club with the most titles in Georgia) – at the children’s and then the youth teams. In 2017, Khvicha, at age 16, made his debut for the main team “Dinamo” Tbilisi in the Georgian championship.
At age 15 he was invited to the U-16 youth team of Georgia, next he was playing for U-17, U-18, and U-19, 21 but since 2020 for the Georgian national team. From April 2018 he played for “Metalurgi” Rustavi, in the first half of 2019 – for Moscow “Lokomotiv”, from July 2019 to March 2022 – for Kazan “Rubin”, March 2022 Khvicha came back to Georgia and played for “Dinamo” Batumi - champions of Georgia 2021 - until June of the same year before transferring to “Napoli” where he played until January 2025.
Between 2019-2024 Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had played 40 matches in the national team of Georgia and scored 17 goals.
The famous football player Shota Arveladze, who during his career successfully played for clubs in Georgia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Scotland and Spain, as well as for the Georgian national team (26 goals in 60 matches for the national team, period 1993-2007), spoke very accurately about the significant role of Khvicha for football and Georgia. He said: “Khvicha’s style of playing shines in Europe and he has been making us proud. I am happy that he will play for such a club as PSG, where Khvicha’s style and skills will prosper more.”
