TBILISI, March 23, 2025 - Nino Salukvadze is a world-famous Georgian sportswoman and record holder. The shooting legend became a champion in the 25-meter pistol and silver medalist in the 10-meter air pistol at the 1988 Olympics, and bronze medalist in air pistol at the 2008 Olympics. She is also a seven-time world champion and a 17-time European champion.
Nino is the only sportswoman in the world who participated in the Olympics ten times in a row, therefore, it is not surprising that she is now in the Guinness Book of Records. She holds two records: as the only female athlete to have participated in the most (10) Olympic Games and as the only athlete to have competed in ten consecutive Olympics.
She competed at the Olympics for the first time in 1988 in Seoul, when she was 19. Her last appearance was in Paris in 2024, when she was 55. At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Nino Salukvadze competed as part of the USSR team (Georgia was part of the Soviet Union between 1922-1990), but for the remaining 9 Olympics (1992-2024) she competed for the Georgian team.
The ceremony to present the documents and the Guinness Book of Records medal was held in Tbilisi, at the Georgian Olympic Museum, which is situated in the building of the Georgian National Olympic Committee. The ceremony was attended by the President of Georgian National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Leri Khabelovi, the Minister of Sports of Georgia Shalva Gogoladze, distinguished sports veterans, young athletes and heads of federations.

The President of the Georgian Records Federation David Begiashvili presented Nino Salukvadze with the relevant documents and the Guinness Book of Records medal. Leri Khabelovi said at the ceremony: "Nino Salukvadze has entered the history of Georgian and world sports in special letters, we are very happy that she has entered the Guinness Book of Records."
Nino Salukvadze recently turned 56. After the 2024 Olympics in Paris, she officially announced that she is "ending her career as an athlete." In a conversation with this author, Salukvadze said, "I will be at the 2028 Olympics as a coach. There are still three years left until these Olympics, there is a lot of work ahead to prepare Georgian athletes for successful performances in the upcoming qualifying tournaments for the 2028 Olympics," she noted.
