ATHENS, April 7, 2025 - Ioannis Daras has been appointed as new Head of Sports Division of ERT Sports the Greek free-to-air television channel, owned by the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, the state broadcaster of Greece. ERT incorporates three channels ERT 1, ERT 2 and ERT 3 together with SportsNews. ERT Sports is also responsible for ERASPORT the Radio network as well as ERT website.

He brings with him a bag of experiences in the world of sports with a career since 1986 as interviewer, editor in chief, media manager and sports producer during which was awarded three Sports Journalist Award. 

Author of four books, especially of the best seller “The Greek Miracle”, concerning the success of the Greek national football team in Euro 2004. The World Cup of Arabia, regarding the World Cup of Qatar. His last book concerns social and family matters with the title "Dad is a parent as well".

Daras is currently vice-president of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) and former AIPS Europe President - of which he is also Honorary President. As a lawyer, he specializes in matters concerning sport, family and labour cases and is a member of the European Union of Sports Law. In the academic field, he is scientific member of the “I-Sports Management Lab” of the University of Peloponnese, lecturer in Bachelor and Postgraduate modules in Sports Media Institutes and Universities.

In his first comment after his appointment Daras emphasised that "Life and, in particular, the world of sport always brings new challenges especially in the developing sector of sport media. However integrity, fairness and respect remain the three fundamental pillars of success and I am sure that while leading the ERT Sports team all these will be achieved."
