

FREETOWN, April 11, 2025 - Sierra Leone’s rising football sensations, Alpha Kabia and Momoh I. Kamara, have officially signed with Minnesota United FC 2 (MNUFC2) for the 2025 season, with an option for extension. MNUFC2, a team competing in the MLS Next Pro league serves as a developmental platform for nurturing young talents under the Major League Soccer (MLS) framework.
The Shooting Stars duo were instrumental in Sierra Leone’s success during the 2024 WAFU A AFCON qualifiers held in Liberia. Their exceptional performances helped Sierra Leone secure its first-ever qualification for the TotalEnergies U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will take place in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, 2025.
Momoh I. Kamara, who captained the U20 squad, earned accolades as both the tournament’s Best Player and joint Top Scorer. Recently breaking into Sierra Leone’s senior national team, the Leone Stars, Kamara featured in the double-header matches against Guinea Bissau and Egypt. His previous club experience includes a season with Leixões SC in Portugal’s Liga Portugal 2.
Alpha Kabia, the former midfield maestro of East End Lions FC, has consistently demonstrated promise as a versatile player. His creative playmaking ability complements Kamara’s leadership making them key assets for both club and country. The pair will also play pivotal roles in Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara’s plans for the upcoming U20 AFCON tournament.
